Oh damn, I've become one of those new bloggers who posts like crazy when the blog is new, and then lets months pass by without posting. Well, it's only been a month and a half, to be fair, but it's still inexcusable.
For those of you who may actually still be stopping by my page, here's a little Lauren update:
At the end of May, I suddenly decided to rent a house that I came across, and moved in on June 1. The abruptness of my uprooting and resettling threw a lot of my life up in the air, and it's going to take some time for the dust to settle and for me to fall back into a rhythm of life that includes producing art.
My new pad is perfect: I have a second bedroom for my studio, there's lots of wall space in the main floor to hang up my paintings, and there's a huge unfinished basement that, despite it's dank nastiness, is the perfect place for me to store my tools, make a sawdust mess, and throw paint around. Once I get my studio unpacked, I feel that good things will happen.
As far as my website goes, it's in the works. I just need to come up with the rest of the money that I owe the designers, pretty much. It's going to be so awesome!
I also just got back from a week long road trip with Sarah (see link below for "Myhreville") down the coast of Oregon and California during which we camped in wondrous forests on the beach, and finally landed in San Fransisco where we were toured around by my sister Annie (an architecture major at California College of the Arts, and general San Fransisco fanatic). We saw an exhibition of artwork by female Impressionist painters that was more emotionally moving than I could have expected, and we also witnessed the precursory activities the night before the Gay Pride Parade (mobs of happy homos partying in the streets) and the actual parade itself which was quite awesome indeed.
And now I'm back home in my new house trying to get settled in while working working working. By fall I should have some new colors and shapes to show you.
